COOK TIME : 15 mins
SERVINGS : 2 Servings
Ingredients
- 400 g ground pork (Or substitute with beef or chicken)
- 1 bunch holy basil (Or substitute with basil)
- 6 cloves garlic
- 2 Thai red chilies
- 2 shallots
- 2 tbsp oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 tsp sugar
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 2 servings cooked rice
Instructions
- Peel and crush garlic, shallots, and chili peppers using a mortar and pestle. If you don’t have one, chopping will work too.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the crushed garlic, shallots, and chili, and sauté until fragrant.
- Add the ground pork and cook until it starts to brown.
- Stir in the sugar, ground black pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and fish sauce. Mix well and continue cooking until the liquid reduces and the pork is cooked through.
- Turn off the heat and stir in the Thai holy basil leaves. Let the residual heat wilt the basil.
- Serve with fried eggs and white rice.
Tips:
- Remove the seeds and membranes from the chilis for a milder kick.
